For the Assyrians, lapis lazuli is a sacred stone that colored the sky in blue tones. The word comes from the Arabic "azul" - blue sky.
The dark blue stone has been hidden since the ancient rulers. In France, Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King, wore it to absorb its strong energy, and Napoleon wore it during his march through Egypt, believing it would protect him from all blows and dangers.
